While a range of individuals continue to generate misleading headlines regarding Aurelien Tchouameni, Manchester United officials continue to work in the background.
The latter should come as no surprise to anybody with genuine links to the football club, because efforts have been ongoing for many months to solidify Michael Carrick’s squad.
Contrary to opinion, moves from Andrey Santos and Youri Tielemans were merely the beginning, with desires for a third midfielder accompanying a well-documented pursuit for an additional full-back.
It’s fair to say Marcus Rashford’s return and salary have altered the internal dynamic somewhat. Still, Omar Berrada and his team remain unfazed.
Although some supporters crave a marquee signing to parade across social media, others are more than happy to welcome another talented name with the capabilities to plug and play, if you will.
One such man is Carlos Baleba, who has retained his admirers in the North West, and a deal would be swiftly completed should Brighton lower their demands.
But amongst this Premier League-proven plot stands Tyler Adams, another option who ticks plenty of Michael Sansoni’s boxes to complement Carrick’s existing central portfolio.
With 80 Premier League appearances under his belt, Adams has quietly cultivated a reputation as an intelligent holding midfielder with an eye for transition.
Utilised as a defensive cog during Andoni Iraola’s Bournemouth reign, the United States international overcame a medial collateral ligament tear midway through the season to finish strongly at the World Cup.
Now, at 27, the one-time Bundesliga star appears primed for the next step, having harnessed an impressive senior career from the MLS to England.
And with United considering a summer approach, Adams could well be an assured acquisition as a domestically proven star entering his peak years.

In many ways, the New Yorker can be labelled as a classic-style deep-lying midfielder: he is reliable, energetic, and team-oriented.
Say what you will about calls for a three-figure signing, but there’s a lot to be said about a high-energy ball-winner.
While technical ability is not a question when required, Adams has very much morphed into a risk-averse professional, avoiding unnecessary ‘Hollywood passes’ and instead focusing on competence.
With Tielemans and Santos joining the likes of Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes, adding a man whose game is built on positional awareness and recoveries is the definition of data management.
One crucial element of his game is the ability to shield the back four with ease. And at a time when Carrick will want to decrease the 50 goals conceded last season, what better way to do so, eh?

Since arriving at Bournemouth in August 2023 from Leeds for a fee slightly above £20 million, defensive assurance has been a hallmark of Adam’s game.
Not only is he blessed with stamina and energy, but his individual metrics paint a picture of a man who can reach an even higher level while playing amongst household names at Old Trafford.
His 2025-26 campaign returned an average of 3.8 ball recoveries, 2.1 successful tackles, 1.7 clearances and 1.3 interceptions per 90 minutes played.
Sneer at a £40m to £50m pricetag all you want, but there are very few Premier League operators who can maintain that level of competence within a side that finished three points off the Champions League places.
As previously stated, our sources have long expressed a unified admiration for Baleba, and that feeling has not diminished. Nonetheless, Adams is viewed as another attractive solution to this Ineos summer search.
Although the Cherries would rather keep their man, we’re advised that a suitable deal could be agreed relatively easily, and the player has emerged as a viable option at M16.
Given the current structure of Carrick’s squad and the inevitable fixture congestion ahead, we can’t help but feel a deal for the Bournemouth man could be yet another shrewd move in Manchester.
