Since arriving in Barcelona in July, Marcus Rashford has found a new lease of life while harnessing his footballing talents in La Liga.
The Manchester United academy graduate has been a regular in Hansi Flick’s side domestically and in continental competition, featuring in all but one of this season’s outings.
As part of this highly-publicised loan agreement, the Catalan giants have the option to purchase Rashford for €30 million, pending that both player and club are happy to proceed.
Our Spanish sources have long indicated Rashford’s desire to stay at Camp Nou, even if that meant reducing his salary demands to accommodate the five-time Champions League winners.
Working alongside Albert Fernandez from Gol Play, the Theatre of Red can exclusively confirm that Barca have been impressed with their English recruit, and have entered into negotiations to complete a summer deal in the region of €20 to €25M.
Barcelona are keen to retain Marcus Rashford on their terms
Given the public nature of Mancunian affairs, it’s no secret that Ruben Amorim felt Rashford was best served taking his talents elsewhere.
Despite an early hint of encouragement, the pair were unable to agree on a suitable vision. Inevitably, the English international joined Aston Villa on loan before sealing his Spanish adventure.
His time in Barcelona has been extremely promising, and we’re advised that Flick and his hierarchy see real value in the attacker.
However, despite providing ample assistance for his many seasoned teammates, a lack of domestic goals and a reliance on receiving ‘ball to feet’ have aggravated some within the camp.
But the management team is confident in his continued growth and is willing to secure his services permanently at a lower fee than previously agreed.
Unsurprisingly, there is an acceptance of a possible Manchester pushback, leading to a list of alternative solutions being drafted as a matter of urgency.

It remains unclear whether Jason Wilcox and Omar Berrada will consider renewed terms for a one-time Premier League star, given the time spent solidifying the initial temporary arrangement.
This is an ambitious Ineos hierarchy, but they do not want to cultivate an image as pushovers throughout the European markets.
Some within Old Trafford even feel a return is not off the table, although they are dwarfed by a contingent who see value in embracing the future.
Rashford would rather remain in Spain, and we’re advised that he is willing to comply with the Catalan request to ensure he can see out his career at the Camp Nou.
Regardless, the 28-year-old has two and a half years remaining on his Manchester deal, and this ‘best-in-class’ establishment will not be outmanoeuvred.
