Manchester United have completed the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for a fee of £65 million plus £6m in performance-related add-ons.
The Cameroon international penned a five-year deal with an option for an additional 12 months, becoming Ruben Amorim’s third summer acquisition after Matheus Cunha and Diego Leon.
Having spent six weeks in negotiations, United achieved the desired agreement of four separate payments of £16.25m, ensuring a satisfactory sum that aids compliance with the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules.
As the Theatre of Red has previously reported, Omar Berrada and Jason Wilcox had set an ambitious target of acquiring their primary attacking recruits before jetting off on the United States segment of the pre-season tour.
Focus immediately moves to departures, with Marcus Rashford edging closer towards a Barcelona loan deal.
Bryan Mbeumo and Manchester United | A perfect Premier League pairing
At 25, Mbeumo is basking in the glory of a memorable individual campaign with 20 goals and eight assists from 38 league outings.
His final-third ability is well-documented, and the former Brentford man has grown from strength to strength since arriving in London in 2019.
Although Thomas Frank was keen to lure his prized asset to Tottenham, every indication stated that Old Trafford was his sole ambition.
“As soon as I knew there was a chance to join Manchester United, I had to take the opportunity to sign for the club of my dreams; the team whose shirt I wore growing up,” Mbeumo stated at the official unveiling.
Amorim desires a squad of versatile athletes to accommodate his tactical vision in the North West, and his new forward offers a relentless engine with significant threat on either side of the transition.

Central to much of the preparations ahead of a crucial season, Ruben is tasked with rejuvenating a disgruntled supporter base while engineering an attractive brand of coherent football.
As we are aware, a 15th-place finish with a bewilderingly low return of 44 goals signalled a necessity for an attacking revolution, with the pairing of Mbeumo and Cunha seen as a transformative move.
“I was advised this morning that Amorim is already preparing for next season with a view that he will have both Cunha and Mbeumo in his starting XI,” Shaun Connolly stated on the Theatre of Red podcast in early June.
Although some have retained pessimistic views, Carrington sources have confirmed vast preparations ahead of their arrivals, with our former Sporting chief convinced of their complementary capabilities in his attacking lineup.
Crucially, the new arrival will travel to the States to generate invaluable pre-season minutes while coming to terms with a new playing style. We’re told he is relishing the opportunity to entertain the Stretford End.
