Sitting seventh after 11 Premier League fixtures, Manchester United have enjoyed a relatively promising start to a crucially important season under Ruben Amorim.
Say what you will about expectations and ever-moving goalposts, but the 20-time English champions are unbeaten in five and within a point of Champions League football.
Central to much of the early success has been the output of new arrival Bryan Mbeumo, whose touch and grace have rightfully earned him individual monthly accolades.
The Cameroonian has settled with ease in his northern surroundings, spearheading a new-look attacking assembly alongside the likes of Matheus Cunha, Mason Mount and Benjamin Sesko.
But just how important has the former Brentford man been in securing Amorim’s early rise into discussions about a potentially memorable campaign at Old Trafford?
The figures behind Bryan Mbeumo at Manchester United
From a simplistic point of view, Mbeumo has continued doing what made him a household name at Brentford.
His attacking intellect, positional awareness and finishing ability are common knowledge, but the ease with which he has transitioned into the melting pot at Old Trafford has perhaps surprised some.
Early promise against Arsenal and Fulham inevitably led to a deserved goal against Burnley, and from there, the former Troyes star has never looked back, notching another four while adding an assist.
His brand of final-third swagger and a growing bond with Amad returned the Premier League’s October Player of the Month award, crowning a memorable few weeks, epitomised by the victory against Liverpool at Anfield.

Not only have we witnessed an out-and-out goalscorer in motion, but the Stretford End has embraced a creator and a flamboyant distributor who complements Amad’s technical ability.
The pair possess a natural understanding of the right wing, often highlighting their comfort with regular positional interchange and an almost unspoken awareness of the other’s standing at any given time.
Crucially, if Amorim’s side is to banish the memory of a harrowing 15th-place finish, at least one of his attackers would need to outscore their expected return during the Premier League calendar.
To date, Mbeumo has achieved that and then some (5 > 3.20).

So much of Ruben’s Sporting success stemmed from a unified vision in the dressing room and an understanding of the individual requirements for an elite work ethic.
The nature of defensive contributions is evident in the heatmap above, which showcases a 26-year-old athlete embracing his Premier credentials.
Attacking output is the primary requirement, but a willingness to engage on either end of the transition embodies the characteristics of a modern-day forward.
Not only does Mbeumo tick the boxes in the opposition half, but his fingerprints are visible across this nurtured Portuguese philosophy.

Having impressed during the early stages of his United career, the attacker has embodied the jersey and not been overwhelmed by it.
Four goals in his previous four outings are a testament to his efforts, with the promise of much more to come throughout this season and beyond.
It is crucial to remember that although the Reds have registered an impressive 19 goals, they have hit the woodwork (eight times) and taken more shots on goal (120) than any other team in the division.
Rival supporters and mainstream media are quick to disregard any form of growth at M16, but this is an attacking threat still coming to terms with its new skin.
With Mbeumo marshalling a right-sided onslaught alongside the likes of Cunha and Mount on the left, and Sesko continuing to grow up top, there is no telling how far this team will move in a short period.
The Red Army have embraced a boyhood supporter as one of their own, and he has responded in kind. Long may it continue.
