Another feast of Premier League fixtures sees Manchester United face a third Monday evening outing in five gameweeks against a struggling Bournemouth outfit.
Old Trafford is the setting this time around, with Andoni Iraola looking to end a winless run stretching back to October.
In contrast, a victory could lift Ruben Amorim’s men into the Champions League places after a run of seven points from the previous nine on offer.
Despite the best efforts of several ex-players turned would-be experts, the former Sporting chief continues to plot a pathway towards European football alongside an ambitious Ineos hierarchy.
And with one defeat from nine fixtures since the turn of October (W5, D3, L1), there is every reason to allow a rare snippet of optimism enter your thought process ahead of gameweek 16.

Inevitably, there will always be a contentious talking point when it comes to Ruben’s Reds, and uncertainty surrounds the availability of a trio of AFCON-bound players.
With Bryan Mbeumo, Amad and Noussair Mazraoui all set for a period away from the North West, the maximum capabilities of this squad will be called into action.
“We are still in conversation with the national teams,” Amorim told the media on Friday. “The game is Monday, they are here, and they are training, and we are trying to prepare all the different scenarios.
“It is frustrating. But nobody knows who is going to play, so it is a good thing. We have players to cope with everything. With a long week, you have time to prepare.
“Every national team has their ideas about when they want the players. I expect today or maybe tomorrow to have a decision, but we are waiting until the last moment to choose the best team.”
Although this side has built a semblance of momentum, lapses of defensive concentration have raised concerns.
Unfortunately, the Old Trafford faithful will welcome a side without a pair of veteran defenders on Monday evening. “[Harry] Maguire is out, [Matthijs] De Ligt is out. Ben [Sesko], we have to see,” the Portuguese confirmed.
“We have to see if he’s available. He had some [food] poisoning, but we’ll see. Let’s wait. We have two trainings still. The other two are out, Benjamin, we will assess.”
De Ligt has been a standout performer this season, enjoying his finest spell since swapping Munich for Manchester in 2024.
Amorim provided further information regarding the Dutchman’s setback. “I think he has something in his back, I don’t know for sure,” he said.
“Sometimes you see it’s not a big injury because he finished the game quite well against Crystal Palace, but he has some pain.
“You sometimes think it will be solved during this week, but sometimes he feels a little bit of pain, and we have to be a little careful with that.”
A run of three consecutive outings without defeat, including a brace of wins on the road, has provided some comfort following a poor showing in defeat against Everton.
But despite the Cherries’ troubles of late, Iraola’s men have delivered back-to-back 3-0 humblings on their previous trips to M16.
Furthermore, they are unbeaten in the last four meetings between the sides (W2, D2), and have not lost since May 2023.
As we have learned many times, Premier League football is unpredictable, and the Stretford End will take nothing for granted under Old Trafford lights.
Predicted Manchester United starting XI: (3-4-2-1): Lammens; Yoro, Martinez, Shaw; Amad, Bruno, Casemiro, Dalot; Mbeumo, Mount; Cunha.
