With Premier League football temporarily paused to accommodate a second international break of the season, Manchester United continue to work tirelessly towards achieving success on the field.
Central to these plans and further perennial conquest is the calculated recruitment of some of the globe’s most talented prospects, such as Cristian Orozco.
According to Fabrizio Romano in early October, United agreed on a $1 million package to sign the wonderkid from Fortaleza, with the deal set to take effect from summer 2026.
Viewed as one of the standout youngsters in Colombian football, the 17-year-old midfielder is considered a potential candidate for future individual accolades at the highest level.
Without question, this is a move that signals the latest in a long list of steps towards achieving the club’s ‘Project 150‘ – a meticulous plan to reclaim Premier League silverware by 2028.
Alongside the likes of Chido Obi, Sekou Kone, and Diego Leon, the illustrious Manchester academy is being fortified for an assault on the senior game. In Orozco, the Stretford End may receive its finest in quite some time.
Why Manchester United targeted Cristian Orozco
For far too long under the neglectful watch of the Glazer family, comprehensive South American scouting dossiers were disregarded for would-be ‘marquee’ names on inflated salaries.
Thankfully, the capture of Paraguayan star Leon signalled a return to the market, and a move for Orozco amplifies this.
A captain for Colombia at underage levels, the midfield dynamo shone for his nation during the South American U17 Championships in March and April, guiding Los Cafeteros to the final, where they eventually lost out on penalties against Brazil.
Viewed as a defensively-minded asset who thrives when receiving the ball deep, Orozco complements attacking transitions with a range of ball-carrying and technical distribution beyond his years.
Additionally, despite his youth and lack of experience on the senior stage, the player possesses a naturally athletic build, with a brand of strength and composure that is unlike many when occupying possession.
According to a September report in El Colombiano, several of his former coaches at Rojo FC are not surprised by the imminent move to England and were quick to offer praise.
Alvaro Escobar stated: “He has a positive leadership style that has allowed him to be captain of the Colombian national team.
“He expresses himself well and is receptive; he doesn’t get upset when corrected; it’s a pleasure to coach him. I was very happy when I found out he could go to Manchester United.”
Additionally, Campo Elias Santacruz declared, “With his character and playing style, he established himself in the U15 and U17 teams.
“Despite being so young, he always showed leadership in practice. He trained hard and, on and off the field, acted like a young man with experience. His teammates helped him grow, and today we can say he’s a great human being.”
For now, Orozco will continue his development in South America, with his move to Manchester to be sealed when he turns 18, likely resulting in completion next summer.
Despite the damage caused by two decades of mismanagement in the North West, United continues to retain its draw as one of the most sought-after clubs in world football.
With ambitions of reclaiming perennial honours and returning the club to past glories, Omar Berrada insists that progress is being made towards Project 150.
Crucially, having missed out on star names like Franco Mastantuono, there is a widely agreed-upon viewpoint that the 20-time English champions have now unearthed one of the game’s brightest stars.
We can not wait to see him in Red! How do you feel about a deal to bring Cristian Orozco to Old Trafford?

Project 150 is a great consept !! “The light” in the black hole of negativity that now plagues our great club and many of its “supporters”.
To get somewhere in life, you have to set your goals.
Berrada has the courage to publish it and work towards it. I was 13 in 1968. A solid United supporter and got my footballing news from The Weekly Mirror here in Iceland along with Andy Cap. I believe in the work being made now. I know Amorim can do the job and needs time and peace to make it work. Acquiring the promising new youth is a big part of Project 150 working as it should.
GGMU !! 💪🇾🇪❤️🤍🖤
Hello, Thor. It’s great to see the Theatre of Red is making a positive impact in Iceland! I agree regarding the project. It allows for hope for a promising future. Long may it continue. UTFR!
