Highly-rated academy prospect Harry Amass has begun training for a season of Championship football, having completed a deadline-day loan move to Sheffield Wednesday.
The full-back is eager to earn a competitive campaign to further enhance his development at a side that worked tirelessly for weeks to seal an agreement.
Sources close to the Theatre of Red confirmed that The Owls held ambitious intentions to attract both Amass and Toby Collyer, inevitably losing out on the latter to division rival West Bromwich Albion.
Manchester United officials have valued the youngster as a potential star for years to come. With that, the Reds will cover all costs associated with the temporary spell, including his salary, accommodation, and bonuses earned between now and January.
In turn, Ruben Amorim and his Ineos-led hierarchy are aiming for a positive spell in Sheffield, with a side struggling to leave their mark during the opening four fixtures.
A physical test for a talented youngster in Sheffield
Since arriving from Watford in 2023, Amass has enjoyed steady development in Manchester, impressing Carrington staff with his commitment and dedication alongside his obvious abilities.
His debut campaign was a notable one, playing an integral role during the memorable treble-winning run for the U18s, while also featuring regularly for the U21s and making the bench for several first-team outings.
Progression has been the trademark for Amass, and the defender inevitably capped a stellar 2024-25 calendar with the prestigious Jimmy Murphy Young Player of the Year award.
Despite his age and inexperience, Amorim regards the Londoner as a player who can develop into a valuable option for his new-look group, and views a season of physical competition as an ideal tool to accelerate his growth.
Since debuting for the first team on his 18th birthday in a cameo against Leicester, the full-back made a further six appearances across the Premier League and the latter stages of the Europa League.
Ultimately, Henrik Pedersen will be hoping his recruit can add some much-needed swagger on the wing, with Wednesday sitting second from bottom without a point from four league outings.
Bristol City will offer a first test at Hillsborough on Saturday, September 13, and we hope to see plenty of playing time for our talented prospect.
For now, everybody at the Theatre of Red wishes Harry the very best during his time in Sheffield.
