Leny Yoro, one of the hottest prospects in world football, appears to be edging closer to a move to Manchester United.
The defender has been the subject of a transfer tug-of-war between the Premier League giants and Real Madrid, with a reported preference for Spain.
However, transfer mogul David Ornstein has confirmed the Frenchman is flying to the UK for a medical – to finalise personal terms with United.
The prospect of landing the defender represents the ultimate display of power from Sir Jim Ratcliffe in selling the benefits of joining his Manchester revolution.
An enormous coup for the English giants
Attracting star talent to the Theatre of Dreams has never presented an issue.
However, enticing a talent of this nature whilst competing without Champions League football against the reigning holders of the competition is an entirely different scenario.
Per Ornstein’s report in The Athletic, “The 18-year-old France youth international has warmed to the idea of moving to Old Trafford, and the latest developments are a major step forward”.
While a deal is far from finalised, this morning’s revelations represent the most positive signal for the Old Trafford faithful.
Erik ten Hag’s side are also keen to finalise a deal for Matthijs de Ligt, with the player keen on a move.
A potential deal will inevitably revolve around outgoings with the league’s Profit and Sustainability Rules leaving a constant shadow.
Should Sir Jim and co complete a staggering move for Yoro, £52 Million will be offloaded to Lille.
Joshua Zirkzee arrived for a little over £35 Million at the weekend, although that fee will be paid over several years.
Astonishingly, despite a move to Spain seemingly inevitable, the allure of the bright lights of Manchester may prevail.
