Erik ten Hag and his Manchester United squad are Stateside for the weekend clash with Premier League rivals Arsenal.
It has been a summer of change under the guidance of Sir Jim Ratcliffe, with an assured approach towards transfer activity.
According to reports, Significant developments have occurred regarding the future of Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.
The full-back has been the focus of a potential move to England, with West Ham seemingly on the cusp of sealing his signature.
However, Florian Plettenberg claims a London deal is off, with Ten Hag’s side in ‘advanced talks’ with the Bundesliga outfit.
A versatile player for a fluid system
With Aaron Wan-Bissaka in the final year of his contract, the defender is keen on a return to London.
In Diogo Dalot and Luke Shaw, the 20-time English champions have an assured option on either flank with an attacking pedigree.
Mazraoui is well-versed on either side of the central defenders, offering a similar forward portfolio to enhance options in Manchester.
Plettenberg states the Hammers have left negotiations following an inability to agree terms with the player’s agent side.
Julen Lopetegui is an admirer of Wan-Bissaka and the Londoners are keen on acquiring his services.
A familiar partnership
The Moroccan international worked under the Dutchman during his five-year stint in Amsterdam and is keen to rekindle their partnership.
He is a versatile defender who offers an almost identical offensive portfolio to Dalot, with a tailor-made work ethic for a systematic approach.
At 26, the Munich defender has an unfortunate history of niggling injuries, with 23 separate incidents occurring since 2017-18.
While this may represent cause for concern, his potential arrival would be in a supporting role, alleviating much of the worry for a relatively cheap offering.
The Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability rules dictate sales are required at Old Trafford.
Developments of a London return for ‘The Spider’ will play a critical role in any deal.
How do you feel about the prospect of the Moroccan international arriving in the North West?
