On a day when Ruben Amorim and Bryan Mbeumo are celebrating their deserved monthly awards, Manchester United are finalising their preparations ahead of a trip to Spurs.
Recent London outings have been difficult for the 20-time English champions, particularly trips to the North side of the city.
However, travelling with 10 points from the last 12 on offer, Amorim’s men are fuelled with momentum and the desire to achieve more.
Waiting for the United faithful is a Tottenham side enduring a peculiar spell, led by one-time Brentford supremo Thomas Frank.
Despite sitting a point outside of the top four, and well positioned in the Champions League group phase, supporter discontent appears to have found its way into the dressing room.
Regardless, handy away days are few and far between in the Premier League, and this United side will be taking nothing for granted at a ground they have not won at in four years.
Manchester United Team News
October’s Premier League Manager of the Month was understandably pleased when addressing the media on Friday, posing alongside his dedicated coaching department following a troublesome year in England.
However, working with the support of Jason Wilcox, Omar Berrada and the rest of the Ineos hierarchy, the former Sporting chief is beginning to enjoy the fruits of his labour.
“I’m really happy,” he told club media. “Not just for my staff, but also for my players.
“I think they deserve full credit for this award because, in the end, the manager that wins this kind of award is not the best team, but the team that performs maybe better during this month.
“So I just expect to win the next one because it is a sign we won football matches.”
Mbeumo has been a starring performer throughout United’s four-game unbeaten run, contributing three goals and an assist since the beginning of October, en route to his Player of the Month award.
Undoubtedly, he will play a significant role at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium alongside the likes of Matheus Cunha, Senne Lammens and Benjamin Sesko.
Having lost four times to Spurs during last season’s capitulation, Saturday’s 12:30 GMT Kick-off offers an early opportunity for our recruits to set the record straight.
Lisandro Martinez is eager to return to first-team action and is edging closer to minutes after being forced to watch from the sidelines since early February.
Interestingly, the World Cup winner was the only senior player to miss out at the City Ground, highlighting the advancements in player conditioning and rehabilitation at Carrington.
“It’s one game every week and then a little bit of luck, because sometimes you have problems with players with knocks, it’s not something that is soft tissues,” Amorim stated in response to questions about the internal approach.
“So you never know what is going to happen in the next training. If you play with intensity in training, something can happen, but I think the big reason, of course, we try to do everything well, the big reason is [we have only] one game every week.
“You can give one extra day to the players that you know could struggle in the next training. I think that is the biggest reason.”
We must rewind to the managerial days of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer for the previous victory celebrated in Spurs’ backyard, a 3-0 win in October 2021.
Since that memorable outing, various United sides have struggled to a solitary draw from four visits, conceding nine goals along the way.
Still, Franks’ setup has endured its own woe this season, collecting one point from the last 12 on offer at home, leading to a growing sense of frustration throughout the football club.
If momentum is indeed a factor, the travelling contingent will be hoping it is utilised to its full effect on Saturday afternoon.
Predicted Manchester United starting XI: (3-4-2-1): Lammens; De Ligt, Maguire, Yoro; Amad, Casemiro, Bruno, Dorgu; Mbeumo, Cunha; Sesko.
