Ruben Amorim discovered the agenda for his first full Premier League season as Manchester United manager, with the release of the 2025-26 fixture list on Wednesday morning.
Following the most forgettable of debut campaigns in England, the former Sporting supremo is charged with raising his side from 15th, and it will all kick off with an Old Trafford outing against Arsenal.
United suffered an agonising defeat to Tottenham Hotspur in an underwhelming Europa League final and will not feature in European competition for the first time since the 2014-15 season.
Given the lack of midweek scheduling that comes hand-in-hand with continental expeditions, a disgruntled supporter base will expect a response and a coherent football team that delivers performances befitting of this iconic club.
Key dates in the Manchester United Premier League calendar
Mikel Arteta’s title-chasing Arsenal presents the undeniable tie of the opening weekend with a 16:30 BST Old Trafford encounter on August 17.
Although fixtures are subject to change, the Manchester Derby offers an indisputable allure. Amorim will meet Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium on September 13, with the return fixture at Old Trafford set for January 17.
Crucially, United and Liverpool will resume their historic rivalry with an October 18 Anfield outing, setting the tone for a potentially crucial Old Trafford meeting on May 2.
Who could forget Leeds? Daniel Farke and his side will welcome their Manchester friends to Elland Road on January 3 before making the short trip to M16 on April 11.
With all eyes firmly fixed on results in Manchester and a necessity for immediate improvement, Amorim will tackle Arsenal (H), Manchester City (A), Chelsea (H) and Liverpool (A) in the opening eight fixtures of the 2025-26 Premier League calendar.
Without question, the Portuguese tactician will know it is time for his philosophy to stand tall against the division’s biggest names. We can’t wait for it!
