Under the guidance of Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos revolution, Manchester United have become calculated during their summer exploits.
Historically, leaks have plagued the club with a perennial expectation for an underwhelming return.
However, in recent weeks, targets appear less convoluted – with the club sailing towards a business-like approach.
In Dominic Calvert-Lewin, an option has potentially risen to seal a Premier League-proven player for a fraction of his previously reported price.
Premier League pedigree
When focusing on Calvert-Lewin’s output, he has made 213 Premier League appearances, contributing 54 goals and 14 assists for Everton.
It is a commendable return and – per The Athletic – has yielded internal conversations regarding the Sheffield striker swapping blue for red.
That said, injuries are a dramatic concern, with 14 different occurrences over seven years resulting in 590 days missed through injury.
However, Mark Critchley’s report confirms that this has been factored into United’s discussions.
Adhering to the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules
The Toffees have endured a tumultuous time with their finances and know their striker can leave for free in 2025.
But a fee in the region of £30 Million could be enough to see Calvert-Lewin move to Manchester.
With a deal for Joshua Zirkzee seemingly approaching a conclusion, it remains unclear if the FA Cup holders will pursue the 11-cap Englishman.
His teammate, Jarrad Branthwaith, has been the subject of two failed offers from Erik ten Hag‘s side already, with Sean Dyche’s outfit requesting a fee in the region of £70M.
The Goodison Park faithful are keen to hold on to their most promising players and build towards a sustainable future.
With speculation mounting about a contract refusal from Calvert-Lewin amid United’s interest, the door is open for a swift solution.
