Arsenal are bracing themselves for another departure of a senior member of their medical department to a direct rival.
That’s according to John Cross, who states Manchester United are on the cusp of signing highly-respected physio Jordan Reece – following in the footsteps of Dr Gary O’Driscoll.
The report suggests that United have submitted their official offer, with final details close to being solidified before his imminent departure.
Any move presents a real coup for the Old Trafford outfit, as they aim to eradicate a season of injuries that hampered any progression for Erik ten Hag’s squad.
Reece offers a track record of pristine results
The move has been taken by O’Driscoll, who is working on Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s Ineos overhaul of the medical department.
Reece is well known throughout the country as a respected physio with a track record of cultivating solid relations with players.
The appointment signifies further attention towards injuries – following a campaign which saw a league-leading figure for the FA Cup winners.
The Gunners are doing their all to convince the medical whizz to remain in London, having already endured the torment of losing their doctor to their Premier League rivals.
A season plagued with unmanageable injuries
As I’ve said previously, the topic of injuries has become a taboo subject – one that many are not keen to acknowledge.
But The Reds endured a league-leading figure of 45 individual injuries throughout the campaign.
Furthermore, 15 variations of centre-back partnerships were used in 38 Premier League outings, with 26 different back-four arrangements during that time.
Moves have already occurred behind the scenes, with several medical team members departing the club.
Extensive analysis of everything from training programmes to rehabilitation is already underway.
Something to consider
One topic to factor into your thought process is the review of Ten Hag’s position at the club.
It is now general knowledge that Ineos is evaluating his managerial stature, with a public showing of supporter intent for the Dutchman.
Injuries have shone front and centre in the debate about his suitability for the role.
With United seemingly prioritising medical advancements, the ‘common sense’ previously highlighted by Ten Hag may be coming to fruition.
