Madrid are cultivating a formidable first team with an array of talent in their ranks.
When focusing on the academy, 16-year-old defender Joan Martinez has caught the attention of the 20-time English champions.
Having made his maiden senior bow in a pre-season outing against AC Milan, eagle-eye supporters were complimentary of his formidable abilities.
A Spanish gem
Modelling himself on the legendary defender Sergio Ramos, the teenager is keen to follow in his footsteps.
While his commitment to Madrid appears resolute, Spanish outlet AS states Erik ten Hag’s side has expressed an interest in acquiring his services.
Furthermore, domestic rivals Chelsea are also reportedly interested in the highly-rated defensive talent.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe has targeted a complete overhaul of the footballing department – focusing on enhancing the academy prospects alongside the senior team.
Headhunting academy prospects
The ethos within the walls of the Manchester club highlights a desire to trust youth.
Any potential signing can view the progression of Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo as an example of the rewards on offer.
Additionally, Ten Hag’s side is close to landing a generational prospect in Chido Obi-Martin, a 16-year-old with the capacity to feature at the highest level tomorrow.
Samuel Lusale is another highly-rated teenager on the cusp of arriving at Old Trafford from Crystal Palace.
Both are aware that hard work will return opportunities, and that factor may prove beneficial in the pursuit of Martinez.
