Having come to terms with the realisation of being priced out of a deal for Geovany Quenda, Manchester United officials remain confident of obtaining an equally exciting talent, with Roger Fernandes a prime target for Ruben Amorim and the Ineos backroom team.
As we exclusively reported on March 14, the Premier League side has advanced in pursuit of several summer acquisitions and accelerated talks about a potential deal for the Braga youngster.
The scouting department previously returned an array of impressive reports regarding the player. Further, Amorim is said to hold a “long-lasting appreciation of one of Portuguese football’s brightest talents”.
Although the teenager endured a muscle injury in early March, there are no long-term concerns regarding his ability to build upon his 44 appearances in all competitions.
Additionally, sources close to the Theatre of Red have added fuel to a possible deal, with extensive summer decisions deliberated throughout the current international break.
Manchester United feel Roger Fernandes is a ‘spectacular option’
Despite a plethora of speculative reports regarding a who’s who list of potential summer signings, a precarious financial standing continues to dictate a calculated window.
Names like Victor Osimhen and Viktor Gyokeres are the benchmark for arousing supporter curiosity and generating clickbait for a blood-thirsty succession of media outlets.
However, given the magnitude of close to two decades of Glazer family mismanagement, eager eyes would be better off analysing the nature of the deal for Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu.
“This is not a case of attracting the biggest names in world football,” an Individual close to Carrington told Shaun Connolly. “We need to look past that dated ideology.
“Manchester United, as a football club, has routinely struggled to reclaim its identity. But, commercially, we are generally good. That said, look at some of the deals signed off over the past six/seven years – shocking!
“When we look at Pat (Dorgu), he’s arrived with a relatively low profile for a modest fee. But his ability is anything but modest, and people can already see the benefits of buying into an underutilised scouting department.
“This is a football club that thrives on entrusting youth to play the United Way. Roger is a spectacular option for this squad and Ruben.
“He can play deep, he can play forward, he can play left and right and has an engine for days! It was easy to link for Quenda – and rightfully so – he’s another talent. But money is king here.
“Roger is ticking the vast majority of boxes, and I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he ended up in Manchester.”
For those unaware, the 19-year-old has played professionally for four years and is comfortable lining out pretty much anywhere on the field.
It is well-documented that Amorim desires a compact squad to harness his ideals, with versatility playing a central role in his transfer ideology.
Undoubtedly, there is a distinguished belief in Roger and his capabilities. However, he is one of several options considered among multiple positions.
Although Diogo Dalot divides the fanbase and irritates many, he is a player held in high regard by the coaching staff and the first-team squad.
Outgoings will play a critical role when considering investments, and the Portuguese full-back is not considered an area of concern for the United hierarchy presently.

Roger fits the bill for that RWB/LWB position. Dalot is not reliable and looks too comfortable in that squad. He should be added to the transfer list to raise money for.other positions.
Roger fits the bill for the principles of the Ineos rebuild. He is young, talented, versatile and an athlete. Let’s hope they finalise their plans. Thank you for your support. It’s appreciated.
