Although results may not be going to plan at Old Trafford, a promising summer transfer window installed a semblance of positivity, culminating with the arrival of Uruguayan midfield ace Manuel Ugarte.
Erik ten Hag is keen to maximise the options within his squad, with the unfortunate topic of injuries beginning to raise its head once more.
The arrival of Ugarte sat alongside the departure of Scott McTominay, with many Manchester United supporters anxious for the club to address the hole his void has left in the squad.
As fans suffer in silence with many of the first-team departing for international duty, the media machine is in full flow – with Adrien Rabiot reportedly considered for a move to the North West.
Speculation that continues to grow
The French star remains without a home following his departure from Juventus after five years in Italy.
Despite the offer of a lucrative move to Turkish giants Galatasaray, the Saint-Maurice man remains keen on a Premier League birth and the challenges this would present at this stage of his career.
According to TeamTalk, United faces competition from Newcastle for the former Paris Saint-Germain man, with both sides assessing the prospect of acquiring the midfield dynamo on a free transfer.
The Red’s ongoing battle to ensure compliance with the Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules is well known, with the 20-time English champions posting a £71.4m net loss for the quarter ending March 31, 2024.
Furthermore, it remains unclear whether Dan Ashworth and co would be willing to deviate from their stance on maintaining a specific age criteria and salary band when acquiring new squad members.
That said, with 22 club honours collected during a notable career, Rabiot’s effectiveness in the transition is undervalued, with European-leading metrics in defensive and attacking segments.
Funnily enough, the versatile midfield player has similar attributes to McTominay, with both players entrusting their carrying ability instead of the distribution of the football.
The fanbase is understandably cautious regarding the prospect of a potential move, with many suggesting his arrival would unsettle an already fragile dressing room.
But these links show no signs of disappearing, with the prospect of a deal not out of the question across mainstream media.
