The name Senne Lammens has become one of the most discussed amongst the Belgian Pro League since the emergence of interest from Premier League powerhouse Manchester United.
At 23, the Royal Antwerp man has cultivated a reputation as a talented and domineering shotstopper with a star that continues to grow weekly.
With Ruben Amorim in the market for a young goalkeeper, the Portuguese tactician is an advocate for entrusting up-and-coming players and views the progress of the Belgian as significant.
Furthermore, the Zottegem native is aware of the English interest and feels humbled by the prospect of his name ushered into the halls of Old Trafford.
“The first time I heard, I thought, ‘Wow’,” Lammens stated. “Immediately a world [renowned] team that follows you. That is special. Of course, I was also spoken to about it a lot, and when I made a save in training, it was United this, United that [from colleagues]… It’s only positive.
“Especially because it’s the best competition in the world, and my profile, my stature and way of playing, is similar to English football. You have to physically hold your own there, and that suits me.”
With outgoings presenting an inevitable talking point, and the prospect of a deal very much alive, what could the Manchester faithful expect from a man who is yet to taste the grandest of stages?
Is Senne Lammens tailor-made for Manchester United?
Firstly, the unavoidable squad status of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir raises several questions, with the former currently sidelined through injury and the latter seemingly destined for alternative surroundings.
Any move for Lammens is seen as an understudy with a view to significant growth into a long-term feature for the 20-time English champions.
Understandably, his lack of experience outside of Belgium or within the national team raises concerns for an already wounded supporter base.
Still, his ability is undeniable, and despite questions regarding the nature of competition he faces, a shotstopper is tasked with keeping the ball out of the net, and this young man has earned significant applause.

The goalkeeping position at Old Trafford is amongst the most scrutinised in world football, with the downturn in form of one-time Champions League star Onana accompanied by the horrific weekly ridicule he receives.
Such is the nature of expectation placed on the shoulders of the club’s number one that a single error can lead to a plethora of unquestionable reactions.
Some may object to the prospect of inserting a 23-year-old into that unwanted cauldron, but Ineos desires a recruitment policy that revolves around identifying and harnessing talent.
As you can see from his underlying metrics in the above chart, Lammens is the epitome of a highly capable youngster.
We can confirm, via sources in Carrington, that United officials admire him and have placed the Belgian high on their wishlist as the wheels of rebuild continue to turn.
How do you feel about a potential move for the Antwerp starlet, and could he be the long-term answer to a never-ending goalkeeping question in Manchester?
