French giants Marseille have submitted a formal bid for Mason Greenwood.
That’s according to transfer mogul Fabrizio Romano, who states Manchester United retain a preference for the player’s departure.
The news comes following yesterday’s revelations that Greenwood had set a timescale for a decision on his future.
Per the report, Romano claims the clubs are actively negotiating to find an agreement.
It’s believed United are open to a loan move with an obligation to purchase.
Les Phocéens are one of several names interested in the troubled forward, with Juventus and Valencia willing to enter the fray.
A desire for resolution
The 22-year-old is keen to resolve uncertainty around his future following a successful loan stint at La Liga outfit Getafe.
Ten goals and six assists in 36 appearances saw him awarded the club Player of the Season award.
His time with Azulones left a lasting impression, with the Spanish side also pursuing a return.
A divided fanbase
The Bradford native continues to divide supporter opinion in the North West, following an unsavoury domestic issue with his partner.
The one-time Old Trafford favourite faced charges including attempted rape and assault.
The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) inevitably discontinued the case due to the withdrawal of key witnesses.
