Manchester United have confirmed the signing of teenage sensation Leny Yoro from Lille.
The defender has been the subject of a publicised battle between United and Real Madrid, with a reported preference for Spain.
However, following a successful medical, the player has finalised terms and put pen to paper with the English giants.
His arrival represents the ultimate display of power from Sir Jim Ratcliffe in selling the benefits of joining his Manchester revolution.
A sign of intent for the English giants
Enticing a prospect of this nature whilst competing without Champions League football is unique.
It is particularly notable considering the club was competing against the reigning holders of the competition.
The Frenchman has committed to a five-year deal with an option for a sixth in the £52 Million transfer.
“Signing for a club with the stature and ambition of Manchester United so early in my career is an incredible honour,” Yoro told United’s official website.
“Since my first conversations with the club, they set out a clear plan for how I can develop in Manchester as part of this exciting project and showed a lot of care for me and my family.
“I know about the history of young players at Manchester United and feel it can be the perfect place to reach my potential and achieve my ambitions, together with my new team-mates. I cannot wait to get started.”
At 18, the player labelled ‘the next Varane‘ has already achieved 60 first-team outings for Les Dogues.
His growth and potential were felt across the continent with recognition in the Ligue 1 team of the season.
Old Trafford’s new sporting director, Dan Ashworth, has praised the player and recognised his abilities.
“Leny is one of the most exciting young defenders in world football. He possesses every attribute needed to develop into a top-class centre-back,” he told media.
