The memory of a Thursday evening Old Trafford victory remains prominent as Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United prepare for the Premier League arrival of Everton.
Bodo/Glimt supplied further evidence of the magnitude of the task at hand for the Portuguese, but supporters witnessed ample proof of his desired structure throughout the fixture.
In contrast, Sean Dyche has overseen a mixed period since taking the reins at Goodison Park in January 2023, winning 25 of his 77 outings and combating the prospect of an undesired relegation battle ahead.
That said, only two places and five points separate the sides in the table, with a lack of goals a consistent trend in both camps.
But following United’s 3-2 Europa League win, Rasmus Hojlund supplied a signal of intent for his suitability in leading the line with an impressive brace of goals and an assist, with the Stretford End eager to see more from their impressive Dane on Sunday.

Several long-term absentees have fought their way back into contention for playing time, with Tyrell Malacia and Mason Mount earning valuable midweek game time.
Kobiee Mainoo has also returned to the bench and is closing in on a rebirth at the heart of the Manchester midfield. Ahead of Sunday’s latest outing, Amorim hopes to welcome further names back into his matchday squad.
“Maybe, we have to see,” the former Sporting chief confirmed when asked if we could expect any surprise inclusions.
“We have one more training. But maybe if not in the starting XI, they will be on the bench.”
Supporters were delighted to welcome Malacia back for 45 minutes of competitive action against Superlaget, and although he struggled at times, his rustiness was expected following such a prolonged absence.
“It was really huge for him and the confidence of everybody,” the manager added. “I think he did very well.
“He was more than a year without playing, and the way he behaved he was so brave with the ball. I’m really happy with him.”
The Reds have won the previous four encounters between the sides, with Everton managing a solitary victory at Old Trafford in 31 attempts in December 2013.
Additionally, United have held the bragging rights over the Toffees on 41 occasions in the Premier League, the most of any side in the competition’s history.
But after a difficult outing at Portman Road in his opening domestic encounter, Amroim will take nothing for granted.
