Erik ten Hag remains committed to Manchester United amid reported interest from Bayern Munich.
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has become familiar with the weekly ritual of justifying his presence in the Old Trafford hot seat. But, despite an irrational season that has returned numerous Jekyll and Hyde performances, the Dutch man’s stock remains high on the continent.
Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are enduring their own domestic catastrophe, losing their grip on bragging rights following eleven consecutive league titles. With Thomas Tuchel departing at the end of the campaign, various reports claim that Ten Hag has become a primary target to replace the German tactician.
But according to multiple outlets, the under-pressure manager is not convinced. ESPN states that Ten Hag’s priority is to remain in Manchester despite the allure of joining an established European powerhouse that is potentially two games from lifting the Champions League for an astonishing seventh time.
United supporters have endured a disastrous campaign – with an early exit from the Champions League and a barrage of inconsistencies throughout the domestic calendar. Despite that, the Dutchman’s side can climb to sixth with victory at Selhurst Park this evening and look forward to a second-consecutive FA Cup showdown with Manchester City on May 25.
Ten Hag is in contract with the twenty-time champions of England until 2025 and appeared confident when discussing the squad and future transfer plans during an exclusive interview with legendary United defender Gary Neville during the week.
The former Ajax chief is highly appreciated at Bayern following his spell with the reserve side between 2013 – 2015. The club has received several setbacks in their managerial pursuit, with Julian Nagelsmann and Ralf Rangnick declining the opportunity to take over from Tuchel.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his management team of Sir Dave Brailsford and Jean-Claude Blanc are considering their options ahead of the new season, with no certainty offered yet. One name that has surfaced as a potential candidate is that of Tuchel, who is said to be keen on a return to the Premier League.
Would you be happy to see the clubs effectively swap managers, or are you convinced that Ten Hag can lead Manchester United into this new period under Ratcliffe and his INEOS masterplan? Let us know in the comments below.
