After weeks of prolonged negotiations, Manchester United and Bayern Munich have reached an agreement for the transfer of Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui.
Per David Ornstein, pending a medical, De Ligt will move to Old Trafford in a deal worth €45million, plus €5m in add-ons.
The Bundesliga outfit has also accepted a proposal of €15m plus €5m in bonuses for Mazraoui.
The Moroccan’s move is dependent on the transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka to West Ham, with a £15m offer accepted for the full-back.
Wan-Bissaka will attend a medical with the London outfit on Sunday or Monday.
A statement of intent
De Ligt is a tough tackler who has already represented some of European football’s elite names.
He is confident on the ball and represents an ideal partner alongside fan-favourite Lisandro Martinez.
The 24-year-old has been keen on reuniting with his former Ajax boss, with the Manchester hierarchy viewing the player as an assured option to bolster their defensive arsenal.
Furthermore, the injury to Leny Yoro sent shivers down the spines of the Old Trafford faithful, with many fearing a repeat of the selection woes previously encountered.
In Mazraoui, Erik ten Hag is purchasing a player once thought about among the elite full-backs in Europe.
At 26, the defender is comfortable on either flank and supplies an almost identical portfolio to Diogo Dalot.
The Moroccan international played under the Dutchman for five seasons in Amsterdam, and he is well-versed in the tactical expectations of the manager.
While both players have endured their fair share of injuries, senior officials have completed their due diligence and are confident in the pair.
Representing the desired age profile and qualities of the Ineos rebuild, the duo immediately enhance the squad profile.
