Less than three days after a frantic Old Trafford evening, Manchester United return to Premier League action against a difficult Brighton side.
Ruben Amorim’s men left it late against Southampton in a 3-1 Amad-inspired rollercoaster.
However, the Seagulls represent an altogether different dynamic, and the Portuguese tactician will require an assured attacking mindset from his men.
Three positions and five points separate the sides, with the Stretford End hopeful to maintain their unbeaten start to 2025.
Team News
Diogo Dalot is available for selection, having served a one-match suspension following his dismissal against Arsenal.
He watched from the stands on Thursday alongside Luke Shaw and Mason Mount, with both continuing rehabilitation ahead of a return to first-team action.
Sunday will come too soon for the pair.
Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans remain unavailable for selection, and there is uncertainty regarding the midfield duo of Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte.
Both were withdrawn early against the Saints, with Amorim suggesting tiredness as the cause.
There is a distinct possibility that Toby Collyer could come in from the start, having impressed during his 38-minute midweek cameo.
Worryingly for the home side, Brighton have ruled the roost against Manchester United in recent seasons, winning five of the previous six league meetings, including both at Old Trafford.
Furthermore, Fabian Hurzeler knows his side holds the highest win ratio against United in Premier League history, winning seven of their 15 encounters (47%).
Interestingly, each of the Red’s last 11 Premier League goals against the visitors have come in the second half. This run extends as far back as the previous eight fixtures without a first-half goal for United.
There will be a minute’s silence to pay tribute to the legendary Denis Law Ahead of Sunday’s 14:00 BST start.
Our thoughts and prayers are with anybody affected by his passing.
Forever in our hearts, King.
