As has often been the case in recent times, Erik ten Hag requires a reaction from his Manchester United side when they make the trip to face Southampton on Saturday.
A disappointing defeat to Liverpool sealed consecutive Premier League losses, with disenchantment in the seats at Old Trafford.
But the season is young, and United are facing a marathon with ample opportunities to atone for a dissatisfactory start.
Russell Martin’s side have not had it their way following a return to the top flight, with three defeats from as many outings.
That said, St Mary’s will be bouncing come 12:30 on Saturday afternoon – with the prospect of adding to the Reds misery an unmissable event.
Nothing but a win will do for Ten Hag, with the Dutchman facing unrivalled daily scrutiny and a barrage of mainstream attention.
He will be without several star names but may be on the cusp of welcoming some new faces.

Following today’s media briefing, the United chief has confirmed the availability of Manuel Ugarte, but Luke Shaw and Rasmus Hojlund will again miss out.
“They [Hojlund and Shaw] are progressing very well but are not ready for this game,” Ten Hag said at his press conference.
“Manuel Ugarte – I think we all have seen he played for Uruguay. He returned this afternoon – he was the only player who returned today.
“All the other players returned yesterday, so he is available for this game.”
The Saints are without Irish shot-stopper Gavin Bazunu and attacker Kamaldeen Suleman.
However, Ben Brereton Diaz is available, and Ross Stewart is closing on a return after injury. He is in contention to join the matchday squad alongside Maxwel Cornet and Ryan Fraser.
History is on Ten Hag’s side
United are unbeaten in their 14 previous Premier League meetings with the Saints, last tasting defeat in January 2016 at Old Trafford.
Worryingly for the home support, Southampton are winless in their last 12 home league encounters against Ten Hag’s side.
Additionally, the Reds have been beaten just once in the last 30 league fixtures against newly-promoted sides, winning 15 from the previous 17 outings.
