Sources placed reliably close to the club have confirmed a desire to accelerate transfer plans amidst growing interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.
Despite turning 17 in June, the Hebburn native has been a key player for the Black Cats throughout their ascend to first place in the Championship, earning 13 appearances and three goals in all competitions.
His performances continue to earn recognition across the continent, with Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig all interested in the player.
United want to get a deal done – even targeting January if it is remotely possible.
However, the teenager’s growth has cemented his status as a regular feature in a side that looks destined for promotion to the Premier League.
As in May, regular playing time will trump the allure of warming a bench for a big name or even dropping to the academy ranks.
The potential arrival of Amorim may play a significant role in a possible deal, with the Lisbon man famed for his desire and ability to work with youth.
