Joshua Zirkzee is a name that has featured regularly since the beginning of the January transfer window, and fresh reports state Manchester United have been offered Dusan Vlahovic as part of a package to reunite the Dutchman with Thiago Motta.
The pair formed a formidable relationship at Bologna, catapulting I Rossoblu into Champions League football before both waved goodbye to their heartbroken supporters.
Such was Zirkzee’s consistent brilliance across Serie A, his accomplishments yielded him the award for being the best young player in Italy before a mega-money move to the North West.
It’s fair to say that his integration into English life has not been straightforward, and like many before him, the forward has discovered the difficulties of Premier League football.
Motta departed for domestic giants Juventus. Although his side remains undefeated in league competition, 11 draws from 18 fixtures places the 36-time Italian champions 12 points behind leaders Napoli.
The 42-year-old is desperate to reunite with Zirkzee and installed the attacker as his number-one transfer priority. But Ruben Amorim is also a fan of the Schiedam native and believes he can supply a notable contribution to his system in time.
With such, any move would come at the request of the troubled Dutchman, with reports of his desire to return to Serie A dating as early as October.
Manchester United offered a proven goalscorer in return
Per an exclusive report from Alex Crook and Robert Calcutt, Motta is so keen to complete a deal that he has offered Dusan Vlahovic as part of a lucrative package.
Vlahovic, a 32-cap Serbian international, has featured prominently for Juventus throughout their campaign, notching eight domestic goals from 17 appearances and four from five Champions League outings.
At 24, the striker has accumulated significant experience with 98 goal contributions from 189 top-flight Italian games.
With 18 months remaining on his Turin deal, talks of an extension are yet to come to fruition despite the 67 million-pound-man leading the scoring charts for his side.
The allure of a Premier League move has long existed in the Serb’s camp, with Arsenal a well-known admirer of his talents. Chelsea have also emerged as a contender for his signature, with the Todd Boehly experiment showing no signs of slowing.
A potential arrival would undeniably bolster Amorim’s attacking options alongside Rasmus Hojlund, with the 21-year-old receiving ample scrutiny from sub-sections of the supporter base.
Sources close to the Theatre of Red have long made Zirkzee’s desire for a move clear, as we previously reported in October, and the treatment received following his 33-minute substitution against Newcastle will undoubtedly have added fuel to that fire.
