But, according to breaking reports, his time directing the 20-time English champions may be short, as Sporting supremo Ruben Amorim is in line to become the second Portuguese man to lead the famous side.
Ineos have a significant task in appointing Ten Hag’s successor, with the eyes of the world anxiously set on the next victim of the British media.
With opinion split within the ranks of the United faithful about a suitable solution, the inevitable rumour mill began turning, with several candidates surfacing by the hour.
However, transfer mogul David Ornstein has poured water on numerous speculative reports, confirming that the Old Trafford giants are working to complete a deal for the 39-year-old tactician.

According to the Athletic, anonymous sources in Portugal have verified that Amorim is open to taking the position, with United ready to pay the £8.3 million release fee for his services.
The highly-sought-after footballing mind was in line to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool and also held talks about the possibility of joining West Ham – before apologising and declaring that “a mistake”.
His accomplishments with Verde e Brancos attracted widespread attention, with many touting him as a potential successor to Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.
Despite his relatively young age, he lifted the Primeira Liga title in 2021 and 2024 – while claiming Taca da Liga spoils twice with Sporting and once with Braga.
Notably, and thought to be a major selling point for Ineos officials, the Lisbon native has earned a reputation for entrusting youth and harnessing the talents within his academy.
Given the various youngsters who have grown into pivotal members of this underperforming squad, an ability to shoulder the disappointment of their departing mentor while helping them to scale to new heights will be an intriguing prospect.
While some may be surprised by his willingness to depart mid-season, I would remind you that this is Manchester United and the offer to join the ranks of Sir Matt Busby and Sir Alex Ferguson is not easily ignored.
