Beyond the weekly debates that surround the hallowed turf at Old Trafford, the game of football has the capacity to shape the lives of thousands of people every day.
Through the ongoing efforts of the utterly phenomenal Manchester United Foundation, you can lend a hand and experience a unique opportunity to participate in a sleepout under the stars at the Theatre of Dreams.
For those unaware, the Foundation utilises football as a means to engage with communities and spend time with young people, aiming to inspire choices that enhance and foster a better life for all involved.
The Theatre of Red is a long-time supporter of this marvellous cause, and we cannot express our gratitude for the work of the dedicated staff who function tirelessly in delivering educational and community programmes.
However, we can all do our part over the coming months to create friendships and seal memories while operating hand-in-hand with some of the finest people in the North West.
Get involved with the Manchester United Foundation at Old Trafford this winter
Ahead of the latest sleepout, the Foundation is appealing for donations of clean adult and children’s coats at Old Trafford to support local families in need throughout the winter.
Remarkably, over 4,250 coats have been donated over the last two years, offering the most basic of support to fellow human beings who need our assistance.
This year, you can donate during the men’s outing against Brighton on Saturday, 25 October, and our women’s team’s UEFA Champions League meeting with French giants Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday, 12 November.
Please note that all donations will be accepted from 90 minutes before the first whistle.
Every coat received will primarily be donated to those in need who access Foundation projects and partner schools, as well as several identified poverty charities in Manchester.
Naturally, if you can assist, the Foundation has requested that all donated coats be clean, with pockets emptied and all personal belongings removed.
- Donations at Manchester United Women v Paris Saint-Germain will be open from 18:30 GMT until kick-off.
- Donations at Manchester United v Brighton & Hove Albion will be open from 16:00 BST until kick-off.
Additionally, Manchester United will host their fourth Stadium Sleep Out at Old Trafford, furthering extensive support for underprivileged and vulnerable young people around Greater Manchester.
The 20-time English Champions are inviting you to grab a sleeping bag and get involved on Friday, 7 November, to raise vital funds while raising awareness about the ongoing hardships suffered by many during winter conditions.
Every supporter is asked to pledge to raise £250 in sponsorship fees, which will help the superheroes in foundation projects continue to provide vital services for young people.
You can learn more here and register to play your part in a truly magnificent initiative. We can’t think of a better way to spend a November night, folks.
