With another day of Manchester United uncertainty in the bag, supporters are still unaware of the future of Erik ten Hag.
Furthermore, several senior players are expected to move on over the coming weeks.
Amongst those listed as a likely departure from Old Trafford is midfielder Christian Eriksen.
The 32-year-old endured a frustrating campaign, featuring for only 1428 minutes across 28 appearances.
The Premier League – noted for its intense physicality and demanding nature – often appeared to pass the Dane by, with many suggesting his talents are suited elsewhere.
But, the veteran remains a mainstay for his beloved Denmark and highlighted his immense quality with a Player-of-the-Match performance against Sweden yesterday evening.
An incredible moment for an incredible player
Almost three years to the day that Eriksen collapsed on the Parken field during a Euro 2020 fixture against Finland, he starred in his side’s 2-1 victory at that very ground.
De Rød-Hvide are in their final preparations for a Group C Euro 2024 battle with Slovenia, Serbia and England.
The friendly encounter with their Scandinavian foes served a treat in Indre Østerbro in front of an adoring crowd of 35,522 yesterday evening.
With 30 shots between the sides, Eriksen supplied an assist for Pierre-Emile Højbjerg’s opener after two minutes from a teasing cross.
With 86 minutes played, he sealed the victory with a stunning effort that led to a standing ovation in the ground.
It was a sublime moment and further evidence of the undeniable character of this inspirational footballer.
What’s next for the legendary Dane
It is evident that Eriksen is underwhelmed by his lack of playing time – given his career as a central figure.
Speaking to TV2 in an exclusive interview, he stated his desire for regular selection.
“Personally, you always want to be the one who is chosen first in the team,” he declared.
“Sometimes the coach looks the other way. But then I play for United.
“There is just a battle for places because there are a lot of good players.”
With one year remaining on his deal at the Theatre of Dreams, the playmaker will not be without suitors at home and abroad.
What do you think? Should the Dane seek a final move or stay and fight for additional playing time? Let us know in the comments below.
